What is in this report?
The purpose of this qualitative research was to explore the sector’s current strategic challenges and appetite for a strategic planning initiative. It summarizes 26 conversations among some of the charity sector’s thought leaders.
What are the three major takeaways?
- The sector is at a crisis point. Significant improvements are urgently needed for the health of the charity sector.
- Our sector is fragmented, siloed, lacks strategic leadership and can’t seem to help itself to get to a better place. Policymakers have mostly ignored past reports, recommendations, and efforts to improve the sector. The call for a Home in Government continues to go unheeded.
- There is good interest in considering a path outside of the political ecosystem (in addition to continuing to find a home or champion within the Government). And there is wide support in the merits of a Strategic Plan for the sector.
