What is in the report
In June 2024, a summary report was released, providing qualitative insights from interviews with 26 thought leaders in the charity sector. The next step was to turn these insights into more inclusive, representative, and robust quantified measures for the entire sector of 85,000+ charities. This survey was conducted with a nationwide sample of Canadian charities, gathering input from their leaders and spokespersons.
What are the three major takeaways?
- The sector is struggling. Many Canadian charities are facing challenges compared to a few years ago.
- The single biggest strategic issue facing the sector is the decline in generosity.
- Over 80% of charities support the idea of exploring independent solutions, rather than relying solely on policymakers. And the majority believe that developing a “sector fund” is a good idea.
